Armand Bayou Nature Center
Visit this astonishingly beautiful part of the Texas Gulf Coast and "reconnect with nature" year round. Become aware of how Armand Bayou Nature Center (ABNC), nestled in the Clear Lake Area, is working to preserve the wetlands prairie, forest and marsh habitats surrounding Armand Bayou. Visitors can learn about plant and animal inhabitants, bird-watch, hike on the Nature Center's trails or view the live animal displays of snakes, alligators, turtles, hawks and bison. A visit to the Center's Martyn Farm will take you back in time to late 1800's farm life in Texas. Before you leave, make reservations to see the beauty of Armand Bayou on the "Bayou Ranger", an electric pontoon boat, or on a guided canoe tour.
University of Houston at Clear Lake
Nestled on a 524-acre wildlife and nature preserve, University of Houston-Clear Lake has become a cornerstone of higher education along the upper Gulf Coast of Texas. Since opening its doors in 1974, the university has awarded more than 53,000 degrees. The Schools of Business, Education, Human Sciences and Humanities, and Science and Computer Engineering offer bachelor's degrees in 39 fields of study and master's degrees in 45 fields of study. In 2007, the university began offering its first doctoral degree, the Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership.
Wings Over Houston Air Show
The CAF Wings Over Houston Airshow is an IRC 501(c)(3) community event presented by the volunteer efforts of the Houston Wing, Gulf Coast Wing, and Tora! Tora! Tora! of the Commemorative Air Force, with support from the Lone Star Flight Museum, Collings Foundation-Houston based at Ellington Airport, and the Vietnam War Flight Museum. One of the top air shows in the United States, this premier Houston event is dedicated to showcasing vintage World War II aircraft, along with the thrills of modern aviation, and has supported a variety of local and national charities during its 37-year history.
Keels & Wheels
The largest collection of classic cars and wooden boats in the United States is on display at the beautiful grounds of Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook the first weekend each May. Educational and awe-inspiring, Keels & Wheels is an event for spectators of all ages and is a great chance to immerse yourself in automotive and marine history. Attendees come from every corner of the U.S. and even Europe to see this spectacular and unique display of classic boats and automobiles. Of course, you can’t forget the famous Texas hospitality!
